Nice set of pics. I don't know why but I always like seeing the larger water birds. Well, I like seeing the smaller ones too, just harder to capture!:)

That first shot ROCKS!!! Excellent background with good detailed Green heron Love the snowy egret, well done Billy, nice ones.

yea, i got lucky, he had just gotten in a fight with his buddy and landed right on the railing in front of me (its not that often they run toward you!)

Nice shots Billy. How tall is that green heron? Never seen one, but I think they will be up here in the summer and I wanted to know what to look for. :)

depends. green's can be quite small or quite large depending on how pissed off they are :lol: (and they are ALWAYS somewhat pissed off). they in fact have a very large neck which they use A. for darting out from branches to get food, and B. scaring the crap out of other birds and predetors.

but on a serious note. generally they are only about 8-10inches tall/long (since they mostly hunch over). they are actually very small birds. but their necks add another 6 inches or so to their hieght.
