These are not the greatest pics, but they amused me :)

I'd been shooting most of the day on manual exposure, but the light was fading fast at the final stage so I switched to Av mode. I instantly forgot I'd changed it, so instead of taking a series of panning shots at 1/200, I accidentally ended up with slower and slower speeds...

OK at 1/200:

Getting slower, at 1/125 then 1/100:

Getting a bit too slow at 1/60:

At 1/50, then 1/40, you get a real sense of speed...

I think it's interesting on the later ones (especially the fifth one) that the front/rear of the car are soft yet the windscreen is sharp. I'm thinking it's probably motion blur not DOF (28mm at f/7.1 on a 400D), as the car pivots to slide round the corner.

I need to re-do these, I think. They have been (too) quickly processed from RAW, and I've gone a bit mad with the black point settings.

Anyway, it's not what I was intending, but a fun effect...

Even so they're bloody good action shots even for an accident.

Interesting shots ... they give a real sense of speed.

I think it's interesting on the later ones (especially the fifth one) that the front/rear of the car are soft yet the windscreen is sharp. I'm thinking it's probably motion blur not DOF (28mm at f/7.1 on a 400D), as the car pivots to slide round the corner.

I'm sure KennyG once explained the physics behind this - might be worth a search ...
