Issue taking concert pics with a SD550

Okay, I am pretty new to this so please be kind I wanted to know what settings you would suggest for taking pics at a large concert venue. Even when I have an unobstructed view and have zoomed in as far as I can they come out underexposed and burry. (The seats I get are usually in the middle of the stadium - not nosebleed section.) Mind you this is with the camera in basic point and shoot mode with flash. I am reading the manual but wanted everyones personal opinions. Thanks so much!!

P&S flash is intended for closer subjects (within a few feet). in a large concert venue, it basically become useless. the flash just cannot reach that far....that's why you'll get underexposed and blurry shots (shutter speed on P&S might be too slow).

These little cameras are good for what they were intended. But in all honesty, I don't believe there's much you can do with one at a concert of any size.

Ok so I'm pretty new to this too. I think it is up to how close you can get to the stage. I've taken some great shots with my SD700 but I was right at stageside. Don't forget it is sometimes better not to zoom and crop later. Especially if you go into digital zoom. When you are out of flash range try using your highest iso and stay very, very still when you press the shutter! There's more tips in the Performing Arts section, Dwight has a sticky there.
