Sure have - With a Canon 350D (Rebel XT)
I think it is great. Mechanically solid (built like a tank). Optically it is ok. Price is good. Meets my needs for web publishing and pics up to A4 ~ >10 x 8

All the pics on this page were taken with it:

Day 2 was with a Tamron 18-200
Hope this helps.
Richard

This thread really annoys me - I've researched this range in zooms, went into my camera shop yesterday saying I wanted the Tokina.

The reply? Tokina doesn't have a distributor in Canada - it's not available.

So, this thread reminds me I can't get the lens I want; at least not easily.

Checked with B &H last night, and it's out of stock.:(

You guys - please stop tormenting me.:(

I found this on the THK Site:

Nothing in Canada, but at least a few more choices other than B&H.

I previously had this lens and loved it. Build is great, the images were tack sharp, and it was a fun focal length. I only got rid of it because I didn't use that focal lenght enough to keep it. I ended up trading it with $75 for a 17-40L which I wasn't impressed with so I sold that and got a tamron 17-50 and love it.

Some bodies. Some primes. Some zooms. Same as everyone else.

Guinness I thank you for the link. Perhaps my cam shop was blowing some smoke.

Hokay - is anyone from Toronto familiar with this place?

Is it "above board"? Reliable? The usual stuff.

I would really appreciate some comments on this store.

This is the UWA I want - I've done a fair bit of checking on it. According to photozone, the only drawback is its CA level - but apparently this can be fixed in PP. The other flaws aren't that simple.

Had it, it's a good lens. Later on I sold it and after awhile got the Sigma 10-20.
I found the Sigma to have less CA, it was wider, the HSM is nicer, and I think it was cheaper as well.

Anyone got this lens? Thanks!

This lens has been discussed in excruciting details. It behooves you to try the search function before posting questions like these.

To summarize, it's an amazing lens, especially given the price.

Tokina makes 'em just for the hell of it. Nobody ever actually buys 'em.

It's an absolutely fine lens. Sold mines when going FF. That hurt.

I've never heard of this on-line reseller. Have you made major purchases from them and can vouch that they are reputable?

I have nothing in it, and this is certainly not ironclad evidence of legitimacy, but the site does seem legit. The store seems to have been open since 2001, and if you google the owner's name, Terry Steyn, there are numerous citations regarding his history, experience, etc. other than the store/site.
