will any flash with hotshoe work??

ive recently aquired a cobra auto 210x flash for next to nothing, but i want to make sure it wont hurt my xti,

With that high of a sync Voltage, the flash may work on the hotshoe, but very possibly only once.

Do not connect that flash to your camera.

You may be able to use it off camera with a hotshoe based optical slave adapter.

YEAH thats the way i have another flash geared up in an umbrella, i think for this one im going to get the wien hotshoe adapter to make it safe to use, i got the flash for nothing so the cost of the adapter is nothing. i didnt know it was so easy to check the voltage untill i went to that site, good stuff there

Be sure to buy spares of the Wein product they do burn out if you are a heavy shooter....BTW they will replace them for free ....just send them back. I sent back 6 of them in one shot.....using them with Vivitar 283's
