This was my first time on assignment as a freelance photographer. The newspaper is out of Boston and is called the Boston Phoenix. Just wanted to send out a thank you for all the tips and information that can be found on this forum, not to mention the friends! It's a huge tool for those of us just starting out.

Here's the link:

The title of the piece is called
The many facial expressions of Conor Oberst (external link)

Enjoy!

I was terrified. It was stressful because I felt I really needed to produce something. I've been paid by a band before but not a major publication! I felt like I had to prove myself, we want more work right. My pictures needed to sell me to them. Hopefully it was accomplished. No matter what, it was a great experience and I hope to have the opportunity again in the future.

Here's another view from a photographer I was shooting next to from the Boston Globe:

Thanks everyone-

The pics were not shot in RAW, I have yet to get into that type of shooting. I manually adjust the shutter while shooting.

Gear list? then I would have to update it so often...

I used a Rebel XT with a Tamron 28-75mm lens.

Ah-do I just add my gear list into my signature?

Joe

hey joe, you can still shoot in manual exposure mode and go RAW; it's just a different file format (which really does offer a lot more flexibility, once you get the workflow down).

btw, check yr PMs!

Fantastic work! The Phoenix sure does know good photos when they see them; they're lucky to have you. I'm sure they're knocking down your door for more.

Congratulations. Dare I say I like your shots better than the Globe's? (Though there's something to be said about a series of shots vs. a single shot, I suppose.)
