Hi, my name is Peter. Last week I had purchased the great camera SD630 from FutureShop in Canada. The camera works perfectly fine and suits all my needs plus more, but... there is one problem with it, when I'm in any mode with the camera unmuted but with all the volume down, it makes a strange whooshing sound from the small speaker on the top. It's not a mechanical sound - it's an electronic static noise.

When I press any of the buttons, left, right, up, down, func/set ect. I can hear the sound. I can hear this sound from about 1 foot away and sometimes it gets louder and I can hear it even further.

I took it back and exchanged it once and the new one had the exact same issue. I emailed and also called Canon and they had no idea what I was talking about.

My question is if this camera is supposed to make this sound. Does anyone else notice it?

Check your operation sounds. It might be set on a strange tone. There are a choice of 3 sounds on my SD700. One of them is "beep" another is a bird sound and 1 other strange sound.

I got stuff for taking pictures. :o When things are unclear - It's time to refocus.

That was my first thought but it's not. I turned all the volumes down but with mute off it still happens.
