I usually take pics of wildlife, specifically birds, but today I strapped my camera bag to my back and rode my motorbike down to Phillip Island to try my hand at motorsport pics. Man it's a very different discipline, but I managed to get more useful pics than I was expecting.

All of today's pics can be found ghere....

Good stuff mate.

I like the one of the Ducati going over lukey heights (think thats how it's spelt)

Were these all taken from public areas?

Yes that's my favourite as well, but they're all excellent - brilliant stuff. Hope you're going to MotoGP practice day as well!

Thanks for the comments folks.

mbpixel: Spot on with the spelling of Lukey Heights, and yes all these pics were taken from spectator areas. Phillip Island is not only great as a track for competitors, but the fences are quite close to the track and are only chest height all the way around. A fantastic spectator's track. :)

burchy: When is the MotoGP practice day?

I thought the MotoGP at Philip Island was early in the season, but apparently it's at the end - October 14th! Sorry about that.

Oh *THAT* practise day. I thought you might have been referring to a between-race practice day. They tend to hold a few at Phillip Island.

Hi Dale, I missed these SBK pics, very nice IMO for 1st time bike shots you are getting all the angles right, you are a natural at taking bike racing pics, maybe its because you are a biker?
One think you should try is tweak the dark areas slightly to recover some of the dark areas using the shadow/highlight tool in CS2, IMO the pics are touch under exposed.

Great races on Sunday, 1 for Troy and 1 for James Toseland they were the class of the field.

Cheers

Nick
