I'm quite happy with my first attempt at bike racing.

Thanks. This site/forum has been a goldmine of info. Before trying these I read up on the best shutter speeds to use to get the sense of motion. It was a great learning day for me. :)

Dale, Very well done, I would be happy with those shots, I have been shooting bikes for over a year now, I think you could go a little faster on the shutter IMO I never shoot below 1/400th and still get motion blur so I get more keepers, for head on shot 1/800th + .

SBK should be a good race.

Cheers

Nick

Thanks for the tips Nick. I'll give that a try next time.

I disagree.

If you have a good panning technique you can get away with low shutter speeds and retain the amount of "keepers". I would bump up your shutter speed for the head ons, but you can get away 1/250th or higher. Shots like #2 will not be the same with a high shutter speed. It's a matter of preference but the 3/4 front bike shot with trailing bikes blurred is one of my favorites to take at the track. Goes for cars as well.

Might be worth while if I give the slightly higher speeds a go sometime and see what those difference are. Personally I was wrapped with the way the slower shutter speeds worked out. As others have said the sense of speed is really evident in alot of the shots, but I guess it wouldn't hurt my learning process to see and understand the diff higher shutters make.
