Has anyone else upgraded to Adobe Camera Raw 3.7?

When I found out this was available I upgraded my version at work. So far there is one thing I really don't like about it. In the image adjustment tab the four auto checkboxes have been replaced with a single auto correction "link" - it's not a checkbox. I don't like having to choose between auto everything or auto nothing. Until I find out if there is a way to change this, I'm not going to upgrade my home version.

AFAIK, there is no way to change this presently. It's also there in ACR 4.0 (used by Lightroom and CS3). There have been many complaints about it, but it's anyone's guess as to whether or not Adobe will change it.

I hate it when they "improve" something by taking away a feature I like.

Someone will fill in the details but i believe you can hold something like control and click one of the sliders and it will go to the auto position. I'm sure I am describing it incorrectly but someone more knowledgeable can explain the actual method I hope.

Before the upgrade, Ctrl+U would toggle the auto settings on and off, but now it doesn't even do that. But that's not even what I don't like. I don't like the fact that they removed the ability to turn on or off 4 different auto settings independently of each other. vmad

Well, I wouldn't exactly call it being a guinea pig as this isn't a beta release, rather the actual new version of ACR. And, since you haven't upgraded your version at home, you can grab the 3.6 version and reinstall it at work without too much fuss. It will work just fine going forward as long as you don't upgrade to CS3 or have Lightroom and require compatibility with that.

There's been quite a lot of negative feedback on this change so there's always the possibility that Adobe will change it back. If you feel strongly enough about it, give that feedback to Adobe. Every vote counts! ;)

I have found myself either using all the auto correction check boxes for a quick conversion, or unchecking all the boxes and fine tuning it myself. This may be Adobe's result from feedback. All or nothing. :) I would like this option personally.

But with the keystroke combination, Ctrl+U you do have the option of all on or all off. By doing what they did, they removed functionality.

From ACR 3.7 README:

Important Notes Regarding Camera Raw 3.7
There are several significant changes to Camera Raw 3.7 in how it handles auto and default settings:
• Applying auto settings by default is no longer controlled on a model by model basis, but instead there is a single global preference checkbox “Apply auto tone adjustments” that controls this adjustment for all camera models at once.
• Camera Raw 3.7 no longer supports per slider auto adjustments. One “Auto” control at the top of the panel now sets the Exposure, Shadows, Brightness, and Contrast sliders to their auto values. The “Default” control at the top of the panel sets these same four sliders to their default values.
The keyboard shortcut for the Auto control is CMD/CTRL-U. The keyboard shortcut for the Default control is CMD/CTRL-R.
• Double clicking on a slider to set that single slider to its default value.
• Shift double clicking on a slider to set that single slider to its auto value.
• Previously, default image settings could only be applied per camera model. Camera Raw 3.7 can now:
o Apply default image settings specific to a camera serial number
o Apply default image settings specific to a camera ISO setting
The additional criteria are located in the Camera Raw preferences.
• The default settings (including the global auto preference) are now shared with the DNG Converter.
• The DNG Converter requires 10.3.9 as a minimum operating system.

In sync with Lightroom, you now simply double click the slider button to return it to it's original state. (as psy4fun so eloquently pointed out) I figured this out in Lightroom purely by accident when I first started it up, but I like it alot actually. However, I didn't know about the shift-click... I'll have to give that a shot too.

So the functionality is still there, just a little less intuitive. I guess that's better than nothing. Thanks for the info.

Thanks psy4fun. I knew I had read it was still in there but should have thought about the Readme as the source. My bad.
