I have an older flash that I would like to use with an optical slave unit that has a PC connector. The flash has some type of two pronged connector on it to fire it with a cord.

What type of connector is it and are there cords that go from it to a PC connection? Below is a phot of the connection.

Thanks for your help!

I have an old Focal brand flash with that connector. The only cord I had for it was wired into the audio-trip box for tripping the flash with sound.

I would suggest checking out the Paramount Cord website and possibly giving Paramount a call.

http://paramountcords.com/default.asp (external link)

It sort of looks like a female "Bi-Post" connector, but this is just a wild stab. And, most cords with a "Bi-Post" connection would be the same gender as you plug on the flash end, so would not work.

I am unsure if even the center to center spacing, or the pin diameter is the same as the "Bi-Post".

So, do not just go to Paramount and indicate you want a "Bi-Post" cords are you are likely to be disappointed.

If you have a good used camera store in your area ask to look at the sync cord "Hell Box". They all have one, with snake piles of all sorts of sync cords. I have personally looked through thousands of cords over the years. You might get lucky. I have.

You could also just forget the obtuse cord and get an inexpensive hotshoe to PC adapter that you could connect a more common cord to.

Enjoy! Lon
