I just downloaded my images from the eclipse last night (they're all atrocious but I had to give it a try). I opened them in Adobe Bridge and they all hav esome kind of... red stuff on them. The file itself is fine since it opens in DPP fine, which is a relief. Shots from earlier on were OK, only differences was metering was on Partial ( [] ) rather than Evaluative ( [o] ).

Crazy stuff. I LIKE using Bridge but if it's going to start doing this...

If EXIF got lost somewhere, it's a Canon 350d, kit lens, 55mm, f/8, 1/100s...

It looks like chromatic noise to me. Perhaps DPP is making adjustments for this.

It certainly looks familiar. But I don't see how it's noise - one thing I forgot to mention, this was ISO100. My other photos were OK - only thing that marks the bad from the good is my change of AE, and how on earth would that make a differnce.

Oh wait. How much of an idiot do I feel?

It IS noise. It's very low ISO100 noise (hence the uniformity) pulled up, because Adobe Bridge is AUTOMATICALLY ADJUSTING EXPOSURE.

This was one of the features I liked. Now I can see it is a Bad Thing.

Thanks for jogging my brain a bit ^^

This happened to me too.The problem is that Adobe Raw automatically tries to provide exposure compensation and as the vast majority of the image is near pitch black it screws up.
Disable the exposure correction slider in raw and the problem should be minimised.

Not always a bad thing, but it's times like this that it becomes one. ;)

Are these both the same shot, just processed by different software (Bridge V's DPP) - what was your ISO?

[Edit] Just in case anyones wondering why I asked a stupid question (about ISO) when it had been mentioned already - I took a phone call while typing my question!

Well, now I know Adobe is doing this to all my photos - even when it's not obvious - I might just avoid it altogether...

Yes, I changed the default to shut off the Auto settings long ago, but I also have a Full Auto preset for those times when I'm in a hurry and would like to see how it does.

Yeah, I found how to turn off all the auto stuff - now I'm happy! ^^

And yes... they were the same shot. Need a slightly longer lens for moon shots, I guess...
