Redbull Crashed ice 2007

It's been an odd weekend. I was in Quebec City shooting the Redbull Crashed Ice event for a few clients, and then caught the ice boat races on sunday (see other thread).

Crashed ice is what you get when you add 128 of the best skaters on the planet, $10 000 prize money, 100 000 spectators, a 300+ year old city, 500m refridgerated track with jumps, doubles, steps and berms and 70m+ vertical drop over the length of the course. It is boardercross on skates, with a bit more mayhem.

Thanks. #2 was with a 15mm Fisheye from a friend's 3rd story window that happenned to be right on the race course.

The third pic really does it for me... great colour and loads to look at.. a quick glance doesn't do it and there arn't that many pictures posted in sport where you need more than a glance as it's usually a couple of players in action.. Not keen on #1, I really like #2 and #3 is brilliant... my taste I know but yes.. love it

Redbull had the entire town lit up with theatrical lights, it was ridiculous.

It was shot with a 17-40, the overhead was a canon 15mm fish and the straight on was a 70-200.

Now that is cool, would love to see it firsthand. Nice shots, love the overhead view.

I don't really like number 1 because spectators take up half of the shot although there isnt much you can do about that. number 2 is awesome and 3s colors are great.

Ya #1 was odd. I was on a media platform for the first few rounds with a more clear shot, but I didn't like it. Moved and got that shot from a little bump on the snow, sorta liked how it came out. The crowd was half the story...100k people!
