I just ordered the following from BH

Savage SABGP10712 Widetone Seamless Paper Background - 107"x 12 yds. - #12 Studio Grey

And I'm wondering how this will work since my apartment has carpet on the floor. I want my model to be able to stand on it for the perfect seamless effect. Can I use it on the carpet alone or do I have to by some particle board to put under the paper? I'm trying to be as cheap as possible so I think buying fiberglass/plexiglass to put on top of the paper is out of the question.

Paper + carpet + heels = holes.

Not really any way around it, you'll need a hard surface under the paper.

If you want to avoid the problems with the carpet get a piece of wood to put on top of the carpet and under the seamless. If you don't have scrap and don't want to buy a whole sheet of plywood (4 ' x 8') you can often get scraps at places like Home Depot. I've gotten nice grades of 3/4" wood in all sizes from the scrap bin and it cost me a few dollars.

Thanks TMR Design, I'm going to try to stop by the hardware store tomorrow night and see what I can get under $20.

Hi themirage,

Just make sure that you do not get a textured surface or it will give you an imprint from the bottom of the paper. If you do use wood, take a piece of sandpaper and give it the once over to remove and splinters or unevenness in the surface.
