nice pics, just back from Afghan and saw the flare drop a lot. looks great from inside the plane, but gets worrying.

They're to protect against heat-seeking missiles

thanks all - actually with the military spending cuts, they're just fireworks to entertain the enemy pilots while the C130 quietly sneaks away...

I find this image lacks "pop" . Not really enough contrast and appears flat. Nice captures however.
