Hi to everyone that reads this. I don't want to debate a matter or anything but i was wondering why my views and commends on my thread is so low. Is it because i'm South-African or is my images crap or just cause my supjects are boring. Just asking cause i want to learn in the threads and if no one comments i will find another place to learn.

Hope you all understand. My attitude is to learn and i'm willing to share the knowledge that i have.

Thx to all

Kind Regards

Kobus Tollig

Kobus - I saw your first post and the comments that the folks here made. You got rave reviews and tons of VERY nice comments. Do not be thin skinned and just go with the flow.

Hi Kobus :) I have liked your posted shots a lot..... I think it takes a little while to get going with recognition... I know for me sometimes the board moves so quickly that posts end up pages back from the front page and essentially get buried more than a lot of people are willing to go back to hunt.... It happens to me frequently.... Sometimes the posts are just missed all together.... Not all viewers are comfortable with critques because of their lack of confidence and experience.... Hang in there pal... Sometimes adding a shot to an existing post as a reply, is a good way to bring it back to the top for a second chance to be seen..... Your work is fine, so don't get discouraged.... Take care.....Alex

Don't take it to heart. Posts just get passed by sometimes. I too have put some without a reply.
For instance, your last duck post that I just looked at was posted at 4:17AM my time. I was sleeping :)

This is a HUGE forum and this happens.

I think you are being a little hard on this forum. You have only been a member for one month. This place has grown so fast sometimes it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. It takes a while to establish an identity that the regulars recognize as someone who posts shots that might be consistently over the top. I have noticed over time that a 10% ratio of views to responses is typical and your posts fall in line with that. Many times I have put photos on here I thought were really good only to have very few comments. I don't get mad at the members here but it tells me that maybe I need to work a little harder or things are just moving fast.

Your posted photos so far are rather small in size. Not everyone has a 24" monitor so to add impact size them at 800 pixels on the long side.

People tend to be afraid here to offer constructive criticism. If you want to learn say so in every post and if I see one of your shots I will either praise it or offer suggestions for improvement.

South African ? I can't tell the color of your skin or your heritage from here nor do I care. This is a place for people of all types to assemble and share their passion for photography with out regard for anything but photography.

Nice shots btw.

I posted my first pic of a bug I took and had 77 views and 1 comment. I was thankful for the compliment I got. And I thought it was my forum name 8-)

I may have been one of the people who look but don't comment. To me one thing I love about this forum is that it is world wide. I personaly don't care if your from next door or around the globe. I do not look at where the photographer lives. Nor do i care about skin color.

I have a hard time leaving comments being i am very new to it and feel i don't know enough to tell anyone how to do better. It is nothing personal against anyone. I just feel that i have a hard time getting my own pictures to turn out how can i tell anyone how to do better. If i look at a picture of yours and have time I will leave comments. Kinda like all the wining that happens in G&N, i look at alot of the pictures but are allow to comment. If i see something in your picture that i know i can help you'll hear from me.

I am having trouble understanding how race got involved with this thread, as to being or not being an issue.... Did I miss an implication no comments were being made because of this?? If so I am in trouble because I am green. This isn't a world wide forum, it is Universal.. I am officially disclosing that I am a Martian.... I hope this doesn't influence whether you will or won't look at my posts ;) ;)..... Lets not even go to race, or nationality, having anything to do with anything, ..... Thank you.....

i know im Italian and it just seems that if im not posting pics of Mafia slayings or Organized crime... no one cares!!!

lol seriously, keep posting sometimes theres just too much to look at and we dont have much time.. You ever hear, no news is good news? its the same here, if your shots stink, youll know it. Sometimes I come on here and open up a thread and see yet ANOTHER awesome pic so i move onto the next one..its hard to keep writing :Great pic" "good job" "What were the settings" which lens" Blahh blahh blahh! Its much more constructive to say, Hey, would look better if ya did this or that!
Keep posting and enjoying the livly discussians like this one!!

Hang in there mate. Just remember the time difference between this side of the Atlantic and the other. There are a lot of US posters on here and things can slip by.

Nothing wrong with your pics - and there's nothing wrong with this one either, but it seems to have slipped through the net
