Can anyone confirm or deny the outrageous NON availability of this function on the new 1D mk3. I find this a serious omission on a camera costing a rumoured £3000! ;)

Yes, it's true, but you can get it installed, free of charge, if you send or take the camera back to the Canon repair center. Or, if you are strong-nerved enough and have a steady hand, you can enable that function yourself. All you need is a little bit of green paint and a very thin but firm brush.

I believe this is a custom setting, Chris, allowing you to change the rear focus button (how useless is that?) for this very function. :D

Thanks for that Leo, I belive we now have a window of opportunity to make some real progress with an obviously ill conceived addition to Canons' spring range.

As an aside, has anyone figured out how to lock down the integral flash? I've seen nothing in the white paper on this.
