Hello all. Very much new to the forum, and up until recently all my motorsports activities were from the drivers seat and not behind the camera. But money has become tight and racing less common, so I've decided to pick up the camera and give it a go. I went to a local auto-x held at Golden Gate Fields a few weekends a go, and wanted to share a few of my photos from it. The weather didn't cooperate very well, but I still had fun. I'm open to C & C as well.

Good shots...especially the kid on the go cart. He would love have it as a poster on his bedroom wall.

I love the panning. How did you get the last one? I know how to pan whe the car is going side to side, but how did you do that one?

The car in the last shot is going from left to right across the frame - look at the direction the driver is looking in. He's just driving the car very, very sideways. The technique to capture it is no different to a straight sideways on pan.

Cheers,

Simon.

Really good work but I notice you shot the top one on ISO 400 at 1/60th and f/20 - you could've shot at ISO 100 at 1/60th at f/10 which would give maximum quality (lower noise in shadows etc) and reduce the risk of sensor dust spots becoming a problem. As it is I can't see any dust spots so you must be good at keeping your camera clean!

keep it up!

To be honest, I'm still learning all the ISO and stops and such. I took a class back in high school but that was 5+ years ago and I hadn't really done too much with photography since then. But it's something my girlfriend enjoys, so I've been trying to tie her love and mine together. :) Thanks for all the comments folks.

And the camera is about a month or two old at this point.
