Friend of mine in Aerospace Engineering flew his RC Helicopter on campus today, so I got my camera from my dorm and tried to put the 300mm to work. Let me know what you think. He did a bunch of acrobatic tricks and the thing was really zippy!

I have more shots, so let me know if you want to see some more.

Thanks

Nice shots! Like the rotor blur! Very nice. I always wanted an RC Helo, but photography took over. :(

Looks like you nailed the right shutter speed.

You could get some great shots for the pilot if you worked together to get the right background.

Fantastic! I assume those were taken with your 70-300? Would you mind providing the exposure info?

I don't like the legs underneath the helicopter on the second shot, I haven't photoshopped any of these except for making them smaller. Tell me what you think.
Thanks!!!

Is there any way I can find the info of the photos? I converted all of them to jpg files already and no longer have the raw files.
I remember most of these pictures were taken in AV mode with 4.5. It was a pretty sunny day, so the shutter speed might have been at 1400.

These two shots were taken taken in Shutter Speed Prioriety with the shutter at 30. They did not come out as sharp as the other ones though.

I tried to pan with the helicopter, but most of the shots taken in TV didn't come out well at all because the helicopter was so quick.

In TV mode 1/30 is too slow (especially if you're shotting at 300mm). Try 1/200 or 1/300 and see how you go. Nice shots btw......I should probably get my R/C heli out and learn how to fly it like this!
