Today I was called down to Silverstone to shoot the final shake down test prior to the 2007 F1 season. Due to testing restrictions, teams (Just Spyker and McLaren) were only allowed to drive 50km today, thus pit stop practice and launch control system tests were the order of the day. The longest run a single car did was 3 laps!

I was impressed to see Lewis Hamilton in the McLaren, but no doubt they're keen to get as many miles under his belt before his baptism of fire!

Not particularly happy with the results, but not shot motorsport since last September and with a ridiculously limited opportunities, I didn't get a chance to back into practice, that's my excuse anyway! However, all comments welcome!

NB. The reds on the McLaren look alright on my laptop, but horrific and blown out on the PC, how do they look to you guys?

Up, close and personnel with the latest Brit in F1.

A rare chance to see an F1 car at speed today.

I don't make it very often into this part of the forum but those shots really stand out. Excellent job.

Cheers for the comments!

I made a bit of a faux pas with #2 in that I was still in a football shooting mindset of high shutter speeds! Doh!

Number 2 looks ok mate, sure the wheels are frozen but there's some nice spray coming up off them which looks good.

I think the reds are slightly overcooked but not so that it detracts at all. Top work all round.

I can't wait to get out and shoot some racing again.

Cheers! The problem with the reds is the same problem that occured with the old Spyker livery, it just glared so much and if you worked to adjust that glare you'd damage the rest of the picture.

Yea, all 300 2.8, the most versatile lens on the market.

Great shots Pete!

... however I don't remember the pit lane having banking like that the last time I drove round Silverstone! :-)
