I shot the Maryland public school wrestling state championships on Saturday in Cole Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Maryland. I setup my two BRAND NEW Vivitar 285HVs on lightstands triggered by Pocket Wizards.

Right before the finals started, the event coordinators made all the photographers shoot from the opposite side of the mats that most of us were already setup from. Having to scramble, to move my lightstands to the other side I had them a bit close and had to adjust on the fly, for the very first match was what I really needed to get shots of --- the first female wrestler to make the Maryland Championship finals match.

Here are a few shots from that match (click action photos for larger view):

After this match, I needed to move to the other mat, so I setup my flashes a bit farther away. Here are a couple shots from above of my setup.

This is how the light looked after moving the flashes back about 10-feet further.

My Vivitars were set at 1/4 power. My camera settings were 1/250s; f/4; ISO 640. I shot at a higher ISO to allow enough ambient in to see the crowd in the background.
