Lesser yellowlegs

The lagoon where I bird spot in Antigua, was unfortunately ruined by the constucrion of a Sandals hotel. There used to be many many waders, now mainly only the herons are around due to the builders digging up all the banks . This yellow legs was making use of the dug up sand though. Thanks for looking.

Nice shot of a wader Sean....Sorry to hear about the habitat. Especially as this is mating season and I'm sure many of the birds have found ther nesting areas disturbed.

Very nice capture and a sad story. It looks like a greater yellowlegs to me.

definately a lesser look how short the beak is compared to the legs

I agree with Dennis, going by the slightly upturned beak and the size of the knees joints my vote is Greater.

I agree that it's a Greater Yellowlegs and although it's a shame about the habitat, these birds breed in the far Canadian north so there shouldn't be any disturbance in Antigua.

You did a good job in that it does not look like a construction site. Can't wait to see these guys again in the late summer/early fall months here...
