I have a 580EX. If I want to fire this flash off the camera (only 1 flash) how do I go about doing that? Can I do it wirelessly or do I need a cable?

If you want ettl, you need the canon or promaster off camera shoe cord 2
if you don't want ettl, you can use a regular sync cord, but also need either a 580II or a pc to hot shoe adapter.

you can also use another on camera flash to fire it via IR, or the st-e2

or pocket wizards

enough choices :)
