I think I may need to shop around for smaller everyday carry bag. Ninety percent of the time I don't need ninety percent of my stuff.

That's why 99% of the time I went around with 28, 50 and 135mm lenses with my 35mm kit.

I have a Lowepro Computrekker Plus AW that will hold pretty much all my stuff, including my tripod and a 17" notebook PC. I decided to see what it would weigh with all that stuff loaded into it... 26 lbs without the notebook and tripod, and 30.2 lbs with. That's what I call "stupid heavy". :D Luckily it is still very comfortable even with all that weight, but I don't think I'd want to haul it around all day. My problem is I can never decide what to leave behind.

Apparently I have too much time on my hands.

I've got the same bag, and when it's fully loaded it HEAVY. And this is coming from a self-proclaimed non-wuss. I'll put it on a scale and see what I come up with.

I remember when I had my Computrekker Plus AW. I'd put two 20D's, a 100-400L IS, 70-200L IS, 28-135 IS, 50 1.4, two 580's, and a 17" xps notebook, and still have room to spare. I literally got sore now and then from carrying it.

I loaded a Lowepro Dryzone 200 with a 1DsMII and 24-105L, a 1DMIIN, a 70-200 F/2.8L IS, extra 1D batteries, a 580EX and a 15 Fisheye. I do not know exact weight, but it was not light

Mines probably 10-15lbs without tripod, but it's going to go closer to 25-30 pounds with new gear, tripod, and laptop.
My problem is, I don't always use all my gear when I go out, but I do wish I had it sometimes when I don't take it. Whenever I don't bring my tripod, I wish I had it (might get the mighty low boy tripod to try and fix that problem -- see my thread in the accesories section), if I don't bring my ultra wide, I vision a shot that would be very neat with the ultra wide, etc etc.
If I was shooting FF and had like a 24-105 and 100-300, I'm sure that would narrow down how much I wish I had other gear, but it would still be iffy, as a lot of my gear, such as primes, are there because of what they allow me to do creatively. Shooting at 1.4 may not produce the sharpest images, but may produce an extremely narrow DOF effect that I want in my photos, therefore, it might be worth packing my 30 1.4 when I go out.

18.4 pounds, fully packed. Getting new bag saturday, so with laptop I'm guessing I'll have a nice like 25 pounds almost, and when I upgrade to 2.8 IS, and add a few lenses (300 2.8, maybe bigma, 24-70L), weight should go up significantly.

Could well be a pocket tripod and a Fujitsu laptop.

I worked on a Fujitsu laptop and it was a really nice machine.

26 pounds without the notebook and tripod seems awfully heavy for what you have listed in your gear sig. I think the notebook and tripod weigh more than you think. Probably about 12-13 pounds together. Your 55MF3 tripod and 322RC2 are at least 5-6 pounds alone, and most 17" notebooks are 6-7 pounds or more.

My LowePro Micro Trekker 200, 20D w/grip+2 batts, 70-200/2.8L IS, 300/4L IS, 10-22 EF-S, 28-75/2.8, 85/1.8, point and shoot, 580EX, monopod, and assorted other stuff is only 18 pounds.

Doc, you are a genius. I can't believe I didn't notice my glaring error. I pulled out the old bathroom scale, weighed myself, then weighed myself with the bag, then weighed myself with the bag+laptop & tripod. Doing the math in my head the first time, apparently I forgot to carrry the six or something... I corrected the original post. Here are the correct figures (much more realistic)

Bag with Camera, lenses, flash and other stuff: 26.2 lbs
Bag with all that plus Dell Inspiron 9200 and tripod: 40.4 lbs.

Let this be a lesson to you, if we're ever out to dinner, don't ask me to divide up the check! :D

Note taken. I'll divide it myself and it will be... err... less then even.
