Rich black backdrops, which?

I'm about ready to order some stuff from Adorama, but I wanted to get opinions on seamless background papers.
I need a really rich black , is the Savage brand super rich any good or is there blacker/richer?

And as far as the Red it looks good the primary red.

Any other brands to consider?

One suggestion if you are going for 9 foot wide roll paper.

If at all possible, purchase your roll paper locally. Shipping on roll paper will eat you up.

Try local theatrical supplies, they are typically a better place to get roll paper than camera stores.

If you have a car with a fold down rear seat, you can very likely get a 9 foot roll inside your car (but the roll has to go to the dashboard). I can get them in my compact car.

And, no black roll paper that I have worked with is all that dense. But, if you separate the background from the subject by several feet, and/or grind on it in photoshop using levels, you can persuade things to be very black.

Best bet is to go to a fabric store and get some black felt, you can even sew it together with out the seam showing

as londuck said, try to purchase your seamless paper locally. trust me, i ordered a few rolls from adorama and was killed by the shipping costs (because each roll is considered an oversized item).

if you want a backdrop that will give you pure black, go with velour or velvet. i got the black photek backdrop-in-a-bag and have never had a problem lighting it or not having it pure black..

Thanks, I was blown away with the shipping cost.
I did check with a local store here but pricing was $56 for 9'x12yards and $30.99 for 53" rolls. I think I'll look around but saving shipping is huge.

Holy cow! I didn't realize shipping on paper was so expensive. That's unfortunate. I was planning to pick some up to try (I can't think of anything in my area that would sell seamless paper) but with shipping almost twice as much as the product... eek.

Someting from $50.00 to $60.00 is what you should expect to pay for 9 foot X 12 yards of paper.

You may find some place that will cut that by a few dollars, but that is about the basic price of admission.

As suggested above, check any local theatrical supply houses, they typically carry it.

I did and I couldn't think of any local theatrical supply houses (I just summed it up with "anything"). There's not even a mom & pop camera shop left in town... let alone a theatrical supply store.

I ordered a stand support from Amvona last nigh and get ground free shipping. Go check it.

Haha! Did you google that for me or are you just way too familiar with the area? I could easily make a roadtrip to get the stuff, no doubt. I was just surprised by the shipping costs (which I'd much rather do than drive a couple of hours with a 9 foot roll or 2 of paper, if not for the S&H). I do have options, you're right
