Cymru
Gaelic
Kernow
Chav

Currently spoken a lot in the bottom right corner of the Sceptred Isle, are they?

By-the-by, my people once spoke a Cymry dialect. We gave it up for political reasons.

So, you're saying that many people in the U.K. don't have English as their first language? What IS their first language, then?

Are you implying that the only people having problems with spelling and grammar on POTN come from the UK? I wasn't aware that I made that distinction.

But, yes, Chav is many people's Mother Tongue...

I am implying no such thing. I simply stated that:

...judging by many of our beloved U.K. posters, the Queen's English is in dire difficulty.

You then responded with:

I quite realise that many people don't have English as their first language...

Thereby implying that you believe that many in the U.K. don't have English as a first language.

I became curious as to what you felt their first language might be.

As to bad grammar and spelling, the U.K. has no monopoly whatsoevr on that score.

And to the others, the introduction of historical languages does not ipso facto grant one of those languages the status of a person's "first language" as used in the context of this thread, i.e., the language in which an individual thinks and communicates most fluently.

This is a fun thread. Don't make it serious.
