2 MP, but a good quality camera.

Currently on sale at Officedepot.com for $199.00

Use coupon code: 96660619 to reduce price $20.

Use $100 mail in rebate:

http://rebates.teg-online.com …ameset.asp?Item_Key=87823 (external link)

That puts it to $199 - $20 - $100 = $79 with free shipping.

This deal is good for about four more days, so take advantage. If nothing else, you can toss an old 128 or 256 MB card and use it as a "beater" camera, or give it to kids. I've taken many good photos with one that belonged to my uncle.

Here is an example:

Here are the reviews:

Have Fun,

That would be a good deal. I had and loved one of these cameras until it was stolen out of my car.

Just a word of caution, the $100 rebate is "valid for in-store only."

That would be a camera you would take with you for shots when you would not dare take your 'good' camera for fear of it getting damaged.

Sort of like a stunt camera for your hero camera...

Could also be a camera you tote everywhere for those fleeting shots.

So you apparently can't get both rebates ... still, $99 is a decent price for a little P&Ser you can take anywhere. Might pick one up for my wife, who complains that she can't figure out my 10D or even my old G1. Thanks for posting, pradeep.

Check it out first.

They are saying on one of the other Canon forums that the $100 rebate is for in store purchases only, and the $20 promotion is only good at office depot.com.

A beater used be a camera you left in a bag in the trunk or glove compartment of your car, or carried with you in your backpack. A camera so ugly, nasty, but still funtional. It objective was to have look so beaten up, a potential thief would avoid stealing it. Beater, as mentioned above, is a cheap camera that you carry around regulary for rough use where you would not want to take expensive gear. Then again, if you use your expensive camera gear like you are supposed to, instead of obsessing over it, it too will become "beater" gear and you can live in freedom of someone not eyeing your equipment.

Some people, like me, used to collect only beater cameras when I was into film cameras.
