I'm going to this house today with my girlfriend that should be a nice photo-op. So i'm outside packing my camera away in my car and i hear off in the distance some cranes yelping in the sky.

It sounded like they always sound as they fly overhead at 2,000 feet...but then it got louder and louder...and then i saw two lovely cranes fly over my house slowly, fully extended...flying in unison...beauty and a mere 20 or so feet above the ground.

Oh, but wait...the damn camera is in the turnk of the car inside of a case turned off with a lens cap on!

GAH!

Now i know to get up at 6am, and i saw where they came from. Oh yes, i will return, YES I WILL RETURN!

Dude, if that's the worst miss you've had, you better get used to it.

On time I came across a bald eagle sitting in a tree not 30 feet away. The camera was on and ready to go, but he chose that time to fly away...

Or the time I was walking back to my car and came across 2 white tails just browsing and chewing and looking at me. But I had taken my last picture - OF SEA GULLS - so I was heading back to the car for more film.

Or the time I watched a red tail hawk dive bomb a field mouse THREE TIMES before he succeeded in getting the little bugger. Of course I had the wide-angle on the camera because I was shooting a tree - the telephoto was back in the car. I got a picture of him though. He's the 157th pixel down in the photo.

Or the time I came across a 3-foot long line of ants marching across a trail, each carrying a piece of I-have-no-idea. Do you think I had the macro lens that day?

Or the bald eagle that I *thought* I saw fly over my head about 30 feet up. But the smarmy ornithologist-wannabe next to me said it was a seagull, so I ignored it. Well Mr. Birdy-Poop then looks through his binoculars and shouts "You're RIGHT! It's an immature BALD EAGLE!" Of course he was far out of range by then... I still did manage to get a picture of him:

I really wish I just had the memory instead, since this picture is a very painful reminder.

Dude, I could go on. And I've only been shooting for 6 months. I don't even want to think what this list would be like in 10 years.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

Sad, but true! But, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it!

You need to sleep outside like everyone else does.

You need to sleep outside with your camera duct-taped to your back. Make sure to shave your back before applying duct tape.
