Why can't it be the BFL? Any Doom fans from back in the day know what that stands for.

I still think BFG would work, just substitute Glass for Gun.

BFL sounds too wussy.

I like '200-500mm f/2.8' for a nickname, but don't see it on any list.

The other side of "SigZilla"
Amazing we missed it..

Doesn't work for me though.. "Zig" just sounds wrong

On the other hand.. much as I hate to admit, one of DPreveiws contributions has been these nicks.. most seem to originate on that forum. So no matter what we call this beast, the unofficial name may well be set by DPreview..

Time will tell :)

I think the person who (1) actually first gets one, (2) shows what it can do, and (3) posts at an online forum gets to name the lens.

Romy/Liquidstone did it for the SigMonster. And BTW, hey Romy, how about dumping your tiny, pip-squeak, 300-800 and getting this new beast? We'll even let you name it!

Yes, I think the first one among us who gets this lens should have the privilege to name it. But I do like Sigmasaurus Ex, Sigzilla or Gigma...:)

LR, until I can find a 25.6x TC to make the new lens a 12.8 m superbeast, I'd pass and make do with my sweetie Sigmonster....

That's easy, just add another 2x TC to your stack o' TCs and your starting at 1000 f/5.6 instead of 800 f/5.6, so you'd be at 16,000mm and the same f/stop you are at now, f/90. :D
