Sigma or Tamron 28-300/18-200 lenes. Which is better I read a statement somewhere that someone had both the tamron and Sigma lenes and the sigma was the better lens. Which is the oposite from all the commerical reviews I have read. I am looking for a lens that does it all like the lenses. I was gonna get the Sigma then read the reviews so I was gonna get the Tamron lens then I read a reply somewhere where an photog had both lens one from each company in the same range and the sigma was better. Now I can not find the comment to get the right lens model.

Have you checked http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/ (external link) ?

I can't answer your question even though I've used a Tamron 28-200mm and Tokina 24-200mm. Each lens has advantages and disadvantages. Frankly, I'd guess the differences in sharpness are probably relatively minor (though the wider focal length ranges generally sport more compromises for hyperzooms). Since you've got the longer focal lengths covered already, I'd pick something in the 18-200mm range or less. You might want to even consider something more like the Sigma 17-70mm which is very sharp, fairly fast, covers a very useful range of focal lengths and can be used for macro shots. Just my two cents.
