I think this should be permissable for names of plants or animals when using the official Latin name. Gives us some opportunities with the X... and other than that we should stick to the forum language. Even there could arise some controversy... is that American or British English (or Australian English, mate...)Your first sentence is quite right, but irrelevant here I think. 'Foreign' is a broader term, and when I mentioned the use of foreign languages, what was implied, of course, was the use of languages foreign to this forum ie languages other than English (in all its forms!). I don't think anyone would object to Latin names for plants and animals though.
