I went with a friend to the Photo 2007 trade fair here in Turku / Åbo today. It was quite a small fair, not that much people which that was actually quite good, cause that made it possible to actually play with some of the gear they had there.
We had a look at the Elinchrom D-Lite 4 and the Style FX 400 which actually did look pretty good for the price they go for. I also had a look at the new Elinchrom Skyport wireless system, and it looked pretty impressive.
Then we went to the Canon stand
and we got to play with some pretty great gear. I especially enjoyed playing with a 5D with the TS-E 24 f/3.5L, 14mm f/2.8L and 85mm f/1.2L Mk II. They also had the new 1D Mark III with 16-35L Mk II and 580 EX II… a real treat.
Result of the day: bought a bargain nifty-fifty for € 89 and a few gigs of extra memory. Walking away we had a lot of new dreams
Lesson of the day… 5D + 14L… that’s really, really, REALLY wide!!! 5D + 85L… shallow DOF redefined!
