Today was a fun day.

I went with a friend to the Photo 2007 trade fair here in Turku / Åbo today. It was quite a small fair, not that much people which that was actually quite good, cause that made it possible to actually play with some of the gear they had there.

We had a look at the Elinchrom D-Lite 4 and the Style FX 400 which actually did look pretty good for the price they go for. I also had a look at the new Elinchrom Skyport wireless system, and it looked pretty impressive.

Then we went to the Canon stand and we got to play with some pretty great gear. I especially enjoyed playing with a 5D with the TS-E 24 f/3.5L, 14mm f/2.8L and 85mm f/1.2L Mk II. They also had the new 1D Mark III with 16-35L Mk II and 580 EX II… a real treat.

Result of the day: bought a bargain nifty-fifty for € 89 and a few gigs of extra memory. Walking away we had a lot of new dreams Lesson of the day… 5D + 14L… that’s really, really, REALLY wide!!! 5D + 85L… shallow DOF redefined!

Was the MKIII for sale or just to look at?

Not for sale yet just for people to look at and play with. Some people were also asking about the 40D, but the Canon representative said he can't say anything

Haha well, even if the 40D is on its way, I don't think that these trade fair representatives have any real information, considering how well they kept the lid on the last launch.
