I was reading through my "EF Lens Work" III: The Eyes of EOS by Canon book and it says the 500mm f4 is usm lens is the fastest focusing ens made. Faster than the 400 f2.8? I am sure it prob is faster than the 600mm..

Gear List? My gear is bigger than yours? Just shoot have fun...

I have the same book and I believe it says that very same thing about the 300f2.8.

The 300mm is Canon's Fastest really.. (that and the little mighty 85mm)

However, the 500mm I think was the "next" lens after the 300mm that was equipped with that version USM and IS combo..

In that sense, the 500mm like the 300mm is equipped with Canon's fastest USM. (as are now the 400mm and 600mm)
