I really dont know how you guys get such crisp clear images? Help!:confused:


A long time ago I had lots of gear - now I make do with one camera & one lens.;)

Nice kingfisher shot, they are'nt the easiest of subject.

Have you done any PP work on the shot? You could use an unsharp mask tool maybe sharpen as well.

Some PP work done - but I cant afford the better programs as yet. Seems this is where my problem lies?

its a great shot no doult about that and its all there too, on this eddit in Photoshop i added USM amount 70 radious 1 - then plus 6 brightness and plus 4 contrast

Nice capture John, Not all shots need pp, but usually most will benifit from even a touch of contrast etc. Do you shoot in raw? Raw offers more leeway in adjustments. Biggest factor in image quality for birds is getting close.
If you look in the forum list here you will see a "sharing knowhow" section with a "raw post processing" subsection. In there members have posted links to freeware for post processing, you will have to search through a few pages but thats where I got my start on processing programs.

hope this helps, and nice job on the kingfisher, nasty birds to try to get close to.:D

For some reason I can not see your picture Johan. I have tried to reload the page several times. The advice given above should solve the problem, especially getting closer.
