Which Wacom tablet would you recommend?

I pretty sure I'm ready to get a WACOM tablet. Question is which one? I'm using dual 19" CRT monitors at the moment, and I'm wondering if the 4x6 tablet is sufficient for a two monitor set-up. Or does it really matter? I also have limited desktop space, hence the attraction to the smallest (and least expensive) of the Intuos3 family.

I have the 6 X 8 and I love it. I'm pretty sure it's Wacom's most popular size. I don't know how a 2 monitor set-up will work with it. Once you use a tablet, you'll wonder how you ever used a mouse in Photoshop.

Buy the largest used one you can afford.

My 4x6 sits idle due to it not being large enough for my wuxga screen (1920 pixels wide)

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional
Full frame and some primes.

costco.com - cheapest prices around on wacoms

anyway - I started out with a 4x6 for about 2 years and then upgraded to a 6x8 about 8 months ago when I upgraded to a 24" widescreen.

IMPO the 6x8 is large enough and I'm glad I didn't pick up the wacom widescreen version ( I think it's 6x11). If your editing alot of images I find my arm getting tired from all the movement.

The larger the tablet the more arm movement - what I did I mapped a new active area on the tablet to about 5x7 that follows my screen size and I find this works much better for me.

This should give you guys an idea of what I'm working with here. The Wacom will sit next to the cheat sheet (yes, I'm retarded and need keyboard shortcuts in front of me) and directly in front of monitor 2. Which tablet will best support two monitors and fit that space?

Lousy EDIT: I guess it would help if I attached a pic.

btw, one more reason to justify the fisheye! Woo Hoo!

One more thing, please ignore the fact that the walls are yellow. We're renting this place and I swear to God it wasn't my idea.

I have the 4x6 and find it to be perfect for my photoshop work.

I love using it and it doesnt take up my whole desk. I don't have to "put it away" when I'm not using it.

So it should fit here (in front of monitor 2) no problem you think?

I also recommend the 6x8 size. Big enough for dual screen size, but not big enough to strain the hand/arm

I'm guessing you'll eventually put the tablet inplace of your mouse and it's pad. You'll keep the mouse up in front of monitor 2.

if you look at the pics I have in the buy/sell forum you will see it almost spans the width of my recliner. It is larger than you think.

Judging by the images posted, do you think the 6x8 tablet will fit in the space allotted?

it will be very crowded and you wont be able to use it from that spot. I place mine on my lap when I use it.

I have the 6X8 remember, not the 4X6

According to the Wacom web site:

Tablet Dimensions: 13.6" x 10.3" x .5"

I'm assuming that's 13.6" from top to bottom. I've got 11.5" (from the base of my monitor to the edge of the desk without overhang) to work with. And that's pushing the monitor flat against the window. I suppose I could move the desk forward a few inches, which will allow me to push the monitors back even further. But then text becomes more challenging to read since I've got my monitors set up at 1600x1200 res. Good thing I've got good eyesight. LOL

PM sent. ;)
