Pbase... belly up? or just down?

PBase - totally down, pinging = 100% packet loss.

It's pretty well known pbase's performance and support have been somewhat dismal for a few months now. So have they finally gone belly-up or are they just temporarily down?

The problem is, this is (partial) BS. It wasn't just "...some of the images" as pbase stated. For an extended period of time, the root domain pbase.com returned 100% packet loss which means the entire pbase system was down.

This has been going on for about 3 months now, getting progressively worse each step of the way. Last week they lost an entire server, k47.pbase.com if I remember correctly. There's much chatter in the pbase forums about this along with complaints of pbase's support sliding downhill alongside the hardware.

A couple of months back it was just a bothersome broken image or two now and then. It has now crossed the threshold of acceptability with users reporting losing clients/sales because their images cannot be viewed.

The problem with zenfolio if I have investigated it properly is it doesn't seem to have the full personal site/personal touch page design abilities pbase does. Plus, from what I have seen zenfolio makes people jump thru extra hoops to view large pics; i.e., you go to a gallery, click a thumbnail and get a large image. However, apparently you must click that larger image to display the largest image. I wonder how many people do not click that intermmediate-sized image, not knowing they can see a larger image. /Dan
