I just tried my friend new studio. Not much equipment. I used a flash in an umbrella
and the 420EX on the body.

Do you like the PP?
What can I do to make it better?

The main light was too low. The catchlights from it should be at the 11 o'clock position or the 1 o'clock position in the eyes, these in your image are at the 9 o'clock position. The fill was too strong making the light nearly flat. This may have been caused by the light illuminating the background bouncing around the camera room and filling in the shadows.

The higher camera position deemphasizes the fact that she is a little on the heavy side, good for you. I would crop in closer however as we really don't need to see her tummy.

I have several free tutorials on posing and lighting at: http://www.photocamel.com …les-good-portraiture.html (external link)

Not to be offending, but your model looks like an addict because of the shadows. Other than that, the composition isn't too bad. Tell her to smile. That'll make the picture 10x's better in this case.

My village called. I was told that they missed me.

Good advice.. The original has way less shadow around the eyes.
Maybe I bounced the contrast a little too high.
I will try to reprocess the pic..

Thanks!

The under eye shadows are better. Her skin color looks off - almost a cold green cast.

On my two calibrated monitors, skin color is just right. The coldness of the picture is intentionnal.

But thanks for the comment!

I agree with above, the attempt at high-key has come out a bit too grainy and desaturated. For me, the expression here isnt very good. Looks unnatural. Soften the picture, i dont know if you added the grain, but for studio portraits, unless you are trying for it, there should be no need for grain in the picture.
