Several times tonight, after some considerable editing of a number of files in LR, the program hung up, displayed a grey screen where the image should be, with "Out of Memory" in red letters.

A simple exit and re-load solved the problem, but I have 2 GB of ram and no other apps are loaded.

Anyone else have this happen?

The memory leak in LR is a known problem and you're defintely not alone with this. I experience the same problem with 4GB RAM. As long as you browse through the pictures in the library module the memory usage stays about the same (220-280mb which is still way to much) but as soon as you start developing then LR start to leak badly (450mb + and climbing the more you develop).

The only solution to this problem so far is to restart LR every once in a while. You can also uncheck the option to autowrite XML files to improve that a bit.

Same here - If I use my copy for any length of time in the Develop mode I also find my machine slowing down gradually, If I shut LR down and open it again all seem normal. (I'm running a 3Ghz dual core with 2Gb RAM)
Looks like an 'undocumented feature' of the program...

What OS are you using? I have never experienced that error on my Mac.
Is the memory leak just a Windows version issue?

Sorry, I'm so accustomed to using PC's - XP Home.:)

I have two sitting on my desk, and my wife's is seven feet away.

I dont' know if other Mac users have experienced the problem.

after a big import close it and reopen. It seems like that causes a lot of it or trying to develop images while its importing

Seems to be a Windows only issue. It was far worse in beta 4, but it looks like they didn't fix all the leaks in the release version.

Perhaps the importing is the problem - last night I imported a whole bag full of images that I had shot over the past few months - probably about 2,200 images.;)

I have had a similar problem and have 2 GB ram running Windows XP. If I move slow, it doesn't bog as bad. Funny, I didn't have the problem on the Beta. I have 11,000 photos loaded - does this effect things?

Yeah, I never had it either - just saw the posts. I did have it once so far in the release version where I got the dreaded upside-down out of memory message. Now, if I see that my full screen (not 1:1) images are starting to get the Loading message while I'm processing, I shut it down and restart. Not a big deal, but I hope they resolve in a 1.x release.
