I hope you didn't pay to either visit this place or take this picture. This sort of thing is a shocking abuse of animals. The organisers typically buy animals on the black market that have been taken illegally from the wild and have had their parents killed.

The only way to stop this is to not go to these places or pay for these photo ops.

The fact that this monkey was even tethered at all should have set off big giant alarm bells.

Have a read of this: http://www.monkeyworld.co.uk …icID=45&Template=standard (external link)

Dear Joe,
I didn't pay to visit 'a place' to take this photo, and there are no 'organizers' charging admission. We were in a remote island village in Koh Jum, Thailand, and the monkey was a pet tied to a tree in a person's front yard. We felt sad for the animal as they are social creatures, and this one displayed great affection to the kitten. The village we were in is very primitive and has no electricity or running water.

We don't condone tying pet monkeys to trees. We only documented what we saw.
