Second shot from my training. We did a little shotgun work and this is my second favorite shot from the day. Settings were 1/400 at F6.3. ISO=400. Taken with XTi and 70-200F4L.

would you consider a crop around the area of the cartridge being ejected with it frames towards the right hand side to give it a sense of movement, i personaly find my eye drawn to wards it and then in the large area surounding it gets abit lost.

just a newbies 2c

Were you looking for something more like this or did you have something else in mind more centered on the ejected shell. I would not be offended if you show me what your looking to do. Image editing is okay. I've never been a fan of cutting off the top of people's heads. But I might like this a little better. My only issue is that it seems to have lost some clarity in the crop. My initial picture was too far out for this much crop.

If this is a photographic question, it's a mistake and I should have cropped it out.

If this is technique question, he's a cover fire man and a safety officer. We often work in pairs to ensure safety on the range. We move fast and run a "hot range".

Thanks for answering the question about the hand - at first it looked like some kid ' I wanna go now, it's my turn!'

Interesting shot, the cartridge and gunsmoke all look great.

Well, we do that too! It's more fun shooting than it is watching!! Oh, and no matter how old or young we are, all the people I work with are kids. Who wouldn't act like a kid? We're getting paid to do this:lol:

Gerdav, why is it called Tactical ejection? I am curious about the hand on your back handle. Maybe some team movement with you running point or rear?.. At any rate, the photo is extremely good. I think the empty shell with the smoke is exactly at the right place. The rest of the elements within the photo adds to the interest of the image.

Glad to see the Holosight mounted. That is one hell of a view finder with true spot metering. :)

Gerdav, why is it called Tactical ejection?

Well, this was a tactical exercise. The four main processes of any semi-auto weapon or pump action shotgun or full auto weapon for that matter is Feed, Fire, Extract, Eject. The focus of this shot is the Shell be ejected during a tactical firing exercise. Hence my name. The II in the title is because there is another post with similar composition.

The hand was explained earlier up in the thread.

Thanks for all the comments everyone. The part about cropping was especially helpful and I think that it really made the photo.

A fore end light, tac sling AND a tactical sight!! Wow! Are you a police officer..and the big question is, who paid for those toys? Our dept doesn't even provide a sling for our shotguns...

Nice shot..er...picture! I like the cropped version better too.
