I've done some research but was curious to know, which is the best and most comprehensive video tutorials on learing and using Adobe Illustrator CS2? Which one do you recommend and why? I want to experiment with incorporating more vector based graphics into my work. Thanks.

Lord,

Illustrator is a different animal than Photohop. As a graphicc design major I can say that Illustrator is twice as hard to master than photoshop.

Lynda.com makes a great series of videos for Illlustrator.

The main tool you will use in Illustrator is the PEN TOOL, followed by learning how the pathfinder works. Here's an illustration I did for an early class.

The first pic is the finished piece and the second is the outline of it. Done entirely with the pen tool.

Wow!

I want to commit myself to learning this program. Maybe I should take an actual class.

Yea, that looks like it can get you started. Your going to have to just learn the basics and practice. Learn how to use the pentool and get SIMPLE shapes and practice penning them out. Let me know if you run into any problems I can help you.

here's a logo and a poster I also did in my travels.

That's great work, Chuck! Looks like you've got it down to a science.

Looks like I'll be dropping more money then. LOL. I'll definitely be in touch with you, brother. I'm sure I'll have lots of questions. ;)

BTW, which one would you recommend? The Lynda.com or the vtc.com Illustrator CS2 tutorial? Both are the same price. The vtc.com tutorial seems to touch a lot on the basics, while the Lyndia.com version seems to be more technique oriented.

That's great news. Did you get in touch with my contact? Now that you'll be here we can link up. If I get this assignment I want with a special unit based there, I too will be attending DINFOS at some point. ;)

Lord, I have an unopened Illustrator CS2 training DVD from DTMS. I'm not sure how comprehensive it is but I'm willing to sell it. It retails for $99. If you're interested then make me an offer.
