Hello, i'm considering getting a flash for my canon, that is the 350D, i recently ordered the grip for it but it hasnt arrived yet

i plan to buy better glass for it , something like 24 105 L IS, right now , i have a sigma 18 200 ( Yeah i know it sucks ).

currently i'm wandering betwen a metz 58, or maybe a 430EX... i would go for the 580EX, but the question is , i heard some1 saying that 580EX has some problems with their 580 on their 350D, is this true ?

and yet, i gotta wait arround 1 month so that the metz comes to portugal

The 430EX is an excellent flash. Obviously not in the same league as the 580EX.

How much do you anticipate using flash and under what conditions?

well i'm no big expert so i can't give you alot of details ;), i expect to use it in a stage , in a street maybe to reduce some shadows, then make some protrait in a house or something like that, and yeah i do expect bouncing :) , but i heard arround asweell that the secondary flash from the metz , since it's small it simply givens more shadowns ( or something like that ).

just out of the ordinary, are you kato from the virtual blue angels ?

I know of no known issues specific to the 580EX and the 350D.

Small differences in the size of the flash will not yield noticeable differences in shadows.

In the product reviews sticky thread near the top of this section is Leo's review of the Metz 58.

If you can afford the 580EX, go for it. I have never known anyone to complain about having the best.

I use a 430EX on a 30D and 350D. Works fine. Sometimes I think it's a great starting point for you, and down the road you can pickup a 580EX.
