Theres a few of us here that use Showit, just thought I would pass along the info. 2.5 will have the option for DVD's to be made by Showit. The service will allow you to setup everything ahead of time, upload your pricing, logo and other odds and ends, and then upload your show and the customer can purchase a DVD directly from the show and Showit sends them a DVD made to your specs and sends you a check!

More info and the 2.5 downloads.

when creating a show, notice the dvd box

notice the dvd box again

how you set it all up (not available yet, load your logo or whatever too)

How it works, it makes another file so the "service" can download the show at a high enough quality/ratio for dvd.
It increases the amount of space the folder takes up, but doesn't effect how the actual web show plays/downloads.

Nice, but nowhere near as useful has having it produce DVDs locally. For people outside the US it's probably be impractical.

Not sure if it is the best place to ask here, but would a program that converts Flash to DVD work as an alternative?

the problem is that there aren't many good ones, I have yet to see a PC version that looks any good, and the mac versions still leave something to be desired.

This service is ideal for those that want to outsource and forget about it, it would compliment being a Pictage user pretty well.

There will be a download options as well, so you could then burn the file, but your clients prbably don't want to pay the shipping.

Nice :D ...it's a great program, even if you never plan on using the DVD option.

why can't we just burn the DVD ourselves and give it to the client?

It doesn't create video files, it creates *dynamic* flash shows. That is also why the flash to video converters don't work with showitweb shows.

Thanks guys...glad you're enjoying it. Yes, we understand the outsourcing thing isn't for everyone but many do want it so we're excited about it. All the best!

Cheers,
DJ

David, will there be a way to burn your own DVD from your slideshow?

For example, if I put together a gallery/slideshow of a photo shoot, can I burn that slideshow to DVD? Or do I have to have my customers order it online?

Sorry for my ignorance, as I have not really used the product before, I have only watched your (wonderful) tutorial.

there will be an option to purchase a downloadable file to burn it yourself. There isn't an option to burn to dvd or make a video file from within the application itself.
