What is a used 580EX worth?

I have the opportunity to purchase a used 580EX for $200 ask, perhaps $175 if I get lucky. Is this a fair price or a steal?

I already own a 580EX so this would really be used as an ST-E2 to trigger my existing flash or as a backup in the event my flash dies (hobby use only).

For this use even at the same price am I better with a smaller ST-E2 for my camera or is having the second 580EX the more prudent option?

Sounds like a Steal to me!

I don't know about your part of the world, but used one's are still selling for about 80-90% of the new price here, which is a lot more than $200 in anyones currency.

$200 is a steal, $175 is a crime!

If you check the buy/sell forums here and on FM you'll see that even the 420EX is selling for between $150 and $175.

Even $200 is flat out larceny for a 580EX.

Cheapest ive ever seen it go for was $275 used, and it was scuffed the hell up.

A 550ex at $200 is a pretty good deal, a 580ex at $200 as stated above is a steal. Jump on dat!

I'd have to agree. I picked up a used 1D Mark IIN with 4500 shots for $2120 on Sunday.

I'm going to go broke if I keep getting luckier. Damn this is a never ending expensive hobby even when you do get lucky here and there.

The 550EX flash that appears in my signature I just got last week I got at a steal of a deal at 200$ so a 580 at that price is unheard of.
