Newbie here and wanted to post some of my motorsports shots for some C&C so I can get better. Thanks!

These are taken with an XT and 100-300USM (or 17-85IS). I've upgraded since then to the 70-300IS, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

These are some of my first pics with my camera. I think a little too much pp.

Not bad photos, pity that #3 didn't have any motion blur (especially with 2 wheels off the track). Really like #4.

What PP did you perform on the images? Also for future posts camera settings would be helpful for commenting on the images.

Thanks for the comments!

I forgot what I did on the first 2, as they were some of my first pictures about 1.5 years ago. The Petit pictures received some contrast and slight saturation in Photoshop. I shot them in RAW and they looked like they didn't have enough contrast.

Now, with the IS lens I should be able to get motion blur on shots like the BMW one. It was at 300mm and if I tried a low enough shutter speed, the picture came out blurry from my hand shaking. I don't have a monopod yet.

As long as IS is set to mode 2. For panning shots it just takes lots of practice. Here is one I took (of the few good ones out a mornings shooting)

On a 300D with the 75-300 4-5.6 (as far as I can remember).

Assuming you mean #4, there is some motion blur there, check out the tyres. Not quite as easy to get when the car is heading away from you like that unlike your simple example which is straight across in front of you. No problem with the panning technique on the others.

Nice series of images. And I agree, the Audi shot is very good.

Nothing decent enough to brag about :D

Might as well. Hell, there's a lawnmower thread for Pete's sake..

Nash and I are shooting the 8-hour enduro in Portland this weekend, so I'm sure we'll have some pictures to post.

Nice shots. What focal length was used for the Aston shot? That's my favorite one BTW.
