I currently have a 300d digital body and a couple of ef lenses and a AE! body and a FD lens. What I dneed to know what is the best Canon film body( the equilavelnet of the 1d in the digital line). I am thinking of getting a film body to shoot slide film as a remote that will use the same lens as my 300D and other EOS digital bodies. later on this year I will get a 30D body to add to my inventory to replace the 300D but that is down the road. Now I need a film body for some projects and I do not want to buy lens that wilwl not work with my digital body. I have a Nikon film scanner and will use that to digitize the images once processed either by myself or a lab. in the short term is will be a lab. Eventually I will dig out my darkroom equipment and process the slide film myself.

Those are the two top film bodies. But,unless you're doing some serious shooting, I would think that an Elan, or film rebel would suffice.

The EOS 1, 1N,1V, or 3 will all be fine. In my opinion, the 1N with the power booster is the best bang for your buck in the used market. The improved 1V is hundreds more.
