Use Quantum to Remote Fire 5D?

Does anybody sell a flash synch cord that I would describe as a household to 5D shutter release?

I'm trying to jerry-rig a radio remote control for my second camera. I do weddings, usually have a tripod mounted 5D in the balcony, but spend time shooting on the floor and would like to remotely trigger the 2nd camera at random intervals.

I have an older Quantum Radio Slave transmitter and receiver that I used with my MF gear. The transmitter would be plugged into my camera, and the receiver would fire a second Metz flash on a light stand.

The Quantum receiver has a standard household to pc cord that plugged into the Metz. I figure if I could find a household to "5D-cable release thingie plug" to could plug into the 5D, I may be able to use my old gear Quantum gear instead of having to purchase two Pocket Wizards or the $100 "car remote" that I've seen advertised. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Buried in the nice thread below (by Lotto) is info on how to use an inexpensive ebay radio remove, a common third party remote cord, and some easy cable construction to fire a Canon camera.

I suspect that the Quantum radio slave could be substituted into a similar mix in place of the ebay radio slave remote without a lot of fuss.

The Quantum radio receivers I am familiar with had the Nikon Screwlock version of the PC connector on the receiver. If your is like that, then you could also use just a male PC cord and solder the plug needed for the cable remote on the other end, I think this was a "sub mini-plug" (also called a 2.5mm plug and a 3/32 plug). These plugs are available at Radio Shack. But carefully check the cited thread as I am going on memory on the plug needed, so I could be incorrect.

If you have an old PC cord with a male PC connector on it you could just cut it and solder on the needed plug (if you have an accommodating corded remote).

The Audit remotes all have a little sub mini jack in them, so you can trigger them with pretty much anything.

Could be easy to do what Londuck suggested above with modifying the cable, and pluging it into the Audit remote.

Thanks Jim - I see the cable that I'm looking for, with the household on one end the special 5D connector on the other, but nowhere do I see anything about ordering just the cable. I Googled for it as well as B&H, but no luck. I'll just have to call Quantum.
