I'm not sure if I'm understanding something correctly. On the form it states all rebates are dbld if you purchase a 1d Mark II/N.

Does this mean if you also purchased a 5D and a qualifying lens for example that your 5D rebate would be $1200? Are the dbled rebates doubled again?

No, buying the 1D will count as one of the items you need to buy to get the doubled rebate, but it won't redouble if you buy more than 2 items. A 1D IInn, 5D and 16-35 will still only get you $700. But the rebates ended Feb. 19. Unless you bought before then, you won't get any rebate.

I understand about the date issues- that's not a problem.

Why are you interpretting it that way as opposed to getting twice that amount?

The original rebate for the 5D is $300, so doubled will be $600. Not doubled again.

So basically Canon is offering no incentive to people who are already buying 2 or more qualifying items if they buy a 1D camera.

If you ever have any doubt about the rebate amount for which you qualify, you can always use Canon's rebate calculator:

I thought the rebate period was over? I want to buy a 30D but it is about $1,140 at B & H. I assume there is no rebate there?

Thanks for the link. It showed me exactly what I didn't want to see though.

They put it there so if you were buying a 1Dsomething you'd be able to get the doubled rebate on any other item you bought at that time. Ts and Cs quite clearly stated that you won't get more than 2x the base rebate amount for anything you buy under the program.

I hate rebates! I've been had 2 times by rebates and there wont be a third. Mail-in-rebates are a sales gimmick. They use mail-in-rebates hoping you won't mail them in, and if you do mail them in everything must be perfect. The 2 times I bought the item with the rebate I didn't like the idea of having to cut the UPC code off the box. Doing this makes the item non-returnable to a store. When I shop and see a mail-in-rebate it just brings up old memory's of how I got burned and how stupid I was for falling for this crap. Never again! No matter how big the rebate is. If the manufacturer really wanted you to have the rebate they sure could make it a lot more simple.

They screwed up my rebates, and I didnt get all the money back. I called Canon and they followed it up. I scanned and emailed the UPC's to the lady, and they are now sending out the $155 they owe me.

i got all my rebates back from canon on the double rebate..less than 6 weeks from when i sent it in..i think it helps if you pre quailify for it online. helps in tracking it after they get your forms in the mail.
