Thanks. I have tried using a flash before but it usually was too bright and destroyed the picture. He showed me the Flash exposure control in the camera. I'm curious enough to try it out now. Plus I'm going to to shooting a wedding for a friend in August so if ya have any pointers please share them with me!

we can get together and have a coffee some time if you want and i can let you know a bit what i know (which isn't much but enough to handle a wedding on my own) otherwise there is plenty to know. Check out the wedding and other family events dicussion section tons of great people and info. Nicksan and Tim are both very knowledgeable people ask them.

I have just started to spend some time in the Wedding pic forum and WOW...... Looks like I better get to practicing and I'll definitely take you up on the offer for coffee and knowledge sharing! First I gotta get a flash! Watching the forums like a hawk right now waiting for the right deal to come along.

I'd like to meet up with you. Let me see if I can find someone to watch my daughter while I'm there. Where is classen curve anyway? Is that where the new Pearls is located near Western & 63rd?

That's a good point and it brings up another question. Is there an average number or times it will flash before it needs to be serviced or replaced?

you never know how long it will last (just like any lightbulb) but to risk it to save $20 is not worth it. People on here and Ebay are pretty smart so your not going to get it half off or even 30% off, so i would just get a new 430exii.

That's what i have and i have a main reason for it - its not that i couldn't or didn't want to afford a 580exii, but when i was shooting weddings and shooting like 2K images i would have blown through batteries in a 580 and the 430 gets about double the flash cycles as the 580 - not because I'm cheap but the trouble of saying wait let me change my batteries just doesn't fly most of the time - 95% of the time it was plenty powerful enough for wedding photography.

Sounds good. You are referring to Chesapeake right? Do you work there?

Never heard of that happening to be honest. That is one of the reasons I went with the Canon brand grip. I've used copies in other areas and was always disappointed due to something not working properly. I bought a knock-off shutter release and the button worked less then 1/2 the time and the bulb exposure feature "Lock" would not hold the button down and I would just get a normal shutter. Luckily they took it back and I bought the Canon for more money but hey..... It works. Sorry to hear you had the problems during the wedding. How did everything turn out? I've just been asked to be the Unofficial photographer for a friends wedding as they have hired a pro to do the reception and ceremony. This will be fun.... I'll get to see how the pros do it!

Thanks for the info. Gives me something to think about. The 430 saves me almost $200!!!!

yeah i work up there at CHK, if the 430 is too weak for you just sell it in a few month for $20-30 than you paid for it. Just call the difference a rental fee.

the Lucky 5k is a new race - St. Patrick's Day race.

That is a good point. I've been watching POTN Classifieds and the flashes sell pretty quick on here. Still trying to find someone to watch my little girl but with spring break happening it is difficult. Tell me where you think you will be and I will look for you if I can get up there.

Just got back from the Lucky 5K and I never found mutau052 unfortunately. After asking 3 persons with Canon cameras if they were mutau052 or a member of the POTN forum and getting the strangest looks from them, I gave up asking and started shooting. I have to say thanks mutau052 for letting me know about this event. It was pretty fun and I saw a few friends that I have not seen in over 20 years!!!!! I'll post up some pics from the run pretty soon. Sorry mutau052, that I never found you. Poor planning on my part. Finding someone at 1:45 to watch my daughter was not helping matters. Hopefully we can try to meet up again in the very near future.
