I was loaned one from the CPS (Canon Professional Services) membership, its a VERY slow to focus lens in my opinion. Its awesome if you have portraits that don't require speed to focus. So for your models, and older people who can listen and take direction, its great. For young kids who move too much, its almost worthless. I have used it about 3 times and just had the speed to focus issue every time.

I just tried it out today it is extremely slow to focus even on my 1DmkIII and man is it heavy! The front element going in and out makes even my 1D move some

Yep. I don't care for it. It would probably be the last prime I would buy. I love the 50L, 35L and even 135L. That 85L needs to be redesigned or something. I know its a lot of glass, but wow, just heavy and slow two things I don't want in my lenses.

I started my own little side business, moonlighting from my everyday IT job. Its nothing that is raking in lots of money. I mainly am shooting for fun and knowledge and experience. I'm growing my skills everyday. So a lot of shoots I do for free or for very little money at all right now. Until I feel the quality of my work is worthy of charging professional prices I refuse to charge professional prices or call myself a professional. I'm not. So while it is a little business, that I'm able to keep while doing all my other stuff, I'm in no way a professional photographer yet. Its a creative outlet for me, so instead of a business, I like to call it my art. I'm an artist.

Hallett is open to the public. Just get on their calendar at www.hallettraceway.com (external link) and view schedule. Cars, bikes and other types of possibilities. There are places all over the track to take photos but yeah we can get together and I can show you on google maps.
